I'm going to make a movie. It's going to be called "The Marriage Contract" it will be a heartwarming tale of 2 Egos seeking individual gratification and will feature our favorite "love objects" Hego and Shego! Here's an excerpt from the script -
HEGO: Oh Shego, I just can't clearly communicate my needs to you in a way that you will understand and then relay back to me the conditions under which I can get those needs from you as my love object.
SHEGO: Maybe we should go to counseling in order that we might be more able to communicate our needs and find the individual gratification that we are searching for. We are married after all, it would bring me distress if our relationship were to turn sour, and what would the neighbors say?
Hego: it is true. It would be an unwise economic move for us to split up and up until now I have felt that you have been of use in gratifying my needs. Besides, if the counseling doesn't work, I can always find another love object to fulfill my needs on the side. Maybe you can do the same.
Shego: What a great idea Hego, it is the 21st century after all, we shouldn't let petty moral restrictions keep us from personal happiness. We are only in this relationships for ourselves, after all, I couldn't care less what you do as long as you gratify my individual needs.
I think it will be well received. I've even planned for some cameos - Sigmund Freud, B.F. Skinner, and Abraham Maslow! Look for it in stores near you, it will be in the DVD section labeled "Hedonism". Enjoy!

LOL. John wanted me to tell you he thinks that's hilarious. In this day and age, we have become selfish, even in marriage - which is supposed to teach us how to serve and act unselfishly. Hedonism :D lol
Can I ask what brought this on? Class? Observations of people?
A few things brought it on, mostly when I was reading for a class and the class itself, but I've been wondering about it some the past little while. I love psychology and all but sometimes it is just crap, like this stuff on marriage. It seems that everything is about the self and the individual which is bogus. That was my little rant. I'm glad you found it entertaining :D
Sadly, I think it would be all too well received. Our society is very selfish. You're awesome. I love how you make your point. : )
Now I KNOW you are taking a class from Dr. Gantt.
